What are your hours?
Mon to Fri 7am to 3:30pm. After hours for emergencies, weekends emergency only. Weekday work gets booked in. After hours is kept for the jobs that genuinely cannot wait, which is what keeps the booked work running to time.
I can smell gas. What should I do?
Get everyone out of the house first. Do not switch anything on or off, including lights, and do not use a phone inside. Once you are outside, ring 000 if there is any immediate danger. After that, ring a licensed gas fitter on 0421 826 360 and we will come and find it.
A pipe has burst. What do I do first?
Turn the water off at the meter before anything else. The meter is usually at the front boundary and the tap turns clockwise. Then ring. If water is anywhere near power, treat it as dangerous and stay away from it until the power is off.
My drain keeps blocking. Will jetting sort it out?
Jetting clears the line. Whether it stays clear depends on why it blocked. Roots, a fallen or crushed section, and built up fat all look the same from the surface and need different fixes, which is why the camera goes down after the jetter. If a section of pipe has failed, the honest answer is that it needs replacing rather than clearing again.
How does a bathroom renovation work with the plumber?
Two visits. Rough-in is the waste and water set out to the plan while the walls are open, with pressure on and photos taken before the sheeting goes up. Fit-off is the tapware, basins, toilet and shower connected and tested once the tiling and cabinetry are done. Wall mounted tapware only sits flush if the rough-in was set out for the finished wall thickness, so it is worth having the same plumber for both.
Which hot water system should I get?
It depends on the house rather than the brand. How many people are in it, whether gas is already at the wall, how much room there is where the unit has to go, and whether the existing electrical or gas supply suits what you are putting in. Continuous flow, storage and heat pump all make sense in different houses. We work that out on site instead of quoting a system down the phone.
What does "licensed plumber" mean in Victoria?
Plumbing in Victoria is regulated, and a licensed plumber is registered with the state regulator to carry out and sign off the classes of work they hold, which is why gas and drainage in particular are not general handyman work.
